Folio Privacy Policy

InnoCore Labs Technologies Private LimitedEffective 23 October 2026Contact: admin@innocorelabs.com

Folio processes your documents on your phone. We do not upload your documents, images, recognised text, file names or document metadata, and there is no Folio account or document server. Folio is free and supported by ads, and the ad providers never receive your documents.

Who we are

Folio: PDF Scanner & Editor (“Folio”, “the app”) is published by InnoCore Labs Technologies Private Limited, India (“InnoCore Labs”, “we”). You can reach us about privacy at admin@innocorelabs.com. This policy covers the Folio Android app and this website, folio.innocorelabs.com.

1. Your documents

Folio scans, imports, signs, merges, splits, edits and reads text from documents on your Android device. All of that processing happens locally.

2. Permissions

The app asks for the minimum Android permissions it needs:

Folio does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, SMS, call log or shared storage. Folio removes the Android advertising ID permission (AD_ID) and the related Android ad-services permissions from its manifest.

3. Text recognition (OCR)

When you use Extract text, recognition runs on your device using Google’s ML Kit text recognition. The first time, Google Play services may download a small recognition model after you choose to continue. Only the model is downloaded, by Google Play services under Google’s policies; your document and its text are not sent anywhere. Folio’s network configuration also blocks the connections the ML Kit library would use for its usage and diagnostics logging, so that logging does not leave through the app.

4. Advertising, consent and purchases

Core document tools are free. To support Folio, the app shows a limited number of ads served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK):

Ads never appear on the splash screen, the scanner, the crop screen, the editor, the viewer, or between scan pages.

What the ad providers may process. When ads are enabled and permitted, Google’s advertising and consent services process data from your device and your interactions with ads. This can include your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, ad and app interactions, diagnostics, and app-set and other device or account identifiers used for ads, measurement and fraud prevention. Removing the advertising ID permission reduces this but does not eliminate all data collection by these providers. Folio supplies no document content and no document-derived information for ad targeting. Provider traffic uses encrypted connections. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data in ads.

Consent. Where required, Folio shows Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form. You can review your choices in the app under Settings → Ads & purchases → Ad privacy choices. Availability depends on your region and on the consent message. Ads need an internet connection; document tools keep working offline.

Remove Ads. A one-time purchase through Google Play removes the ads. Google handles your payment details; Folio never sees them. Folio stores purchase verification data in its local encrypted database to keep and restore your purchase. Restoring needs access to your Google Play account and may need a connection. Refunds are handled by Google Play.

5. What we collect

InnoCore Labs runs no server for the app, and Folio has no analytics or crash-reporting service of its own. We do not receive your documents, your identity, your location or usage statistics from the app. This website is static and loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or cookies. The web server is configured not to keep access logs for this site; error logs may briefly record an IP address and a requested address for reliability and security.

Third parties that provide services inside the app (Google AdMob and UMP, Google Play Billing, Google Play services and ML Kit) process data under their own policies as described above. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Retention and deleting your data

More detail is on the delete your data page.

7. Children

Folio is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given personal information to a service used by the app, contact us and we will help.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase on our side; your documents are on your device and under your control. For data held by Google, use Google’s tools and the Ad privacy choices option in the app. For anything else, write to admin@innocorelabs.com.

9. Security

We keep the attack surface small by not uploading documents, by using encrypted connections for ad, consent and purchase traffic, and by keeping library data in an encrypted local database. No method of storage is perfectly secure. Protect your device with a screen lock.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will also tell you in the app.
