FolioFolio Terms of Use
Folio is free and supported by ads. Your documents stay on your device. By installing or using Folio you agree to these terms.
1. What Folio does
Folio: PDF Scanner & Editor is an Android app that scans documents, creates, imports, signs, merges, splits and edits PDFs, and reads text from scans, on your device. Folio is published by InnoCore Labs Technologies Private Limited (“InnoCore Labs”, “we”). See the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.
2. Your documents
The documents, scans, signatures and text you create or import are yours. Folio processes them on your device and does not upload them. You are responsible for the documents you scan, sign and share, and for having the right to use them.
3. Signatures
Folio places a picture of a signature you draw, type or photograph onto a page. It is not a certified e-signature and provides no cryptographic proof of identity or of the document’s integrity. Whether a signature picture is accepted depends on the person or organisation you give it to and on the law that applies. Use a certified service where the law or the other party requires one.
4. Editing and text recognition
The editor adds content to a page; it does not rewrite the existing text of a PDF. Text recognition is automatic and can make mistakes, especially on poor scans. Check any recognised text before you rely on it. Folio is not a substitute for professional legal, financial or medical review of your documents.
5. Advertising
Folio is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising served by Google. By using Folio you agree to see ads in the places described in the Privacy Policy: a rewarded video before you share, print or open a document in another app, or export a searchable PDF; one ad after you create a PDF; and one labelled card in document lists. We do not choose individual ads, and an ad is not a recommendation from us. Ads need an internet connection; the document tools do not.
6. Remove Ads purchase
You can buy a one-time Remove Ads upgrade through Google Play. It is a non-consumable purchase tied to your Google Play account. At launch it is listed at USD 3.99, with local prices set by Google Play; the price shown in Google Play at checkout is the price you pay. Payments, receipts and refunds are handled by Google Play under Google’s terms and refund policies, and we cannot issue refunds ourselves. Restoring a purchase requires access to the Google Play account that made it. Removing ads does not change what Folio does with your documents, which is never to upload them.
7. Acceptable use
- Use Folio only for lawful purposes and only with documents you are entitled to copy and sign.
- Do not use Folio to forge a signature or to create misleading documents.
- Do not attempt to interfere with the ads, the purchase system or the integrity of the app, or to reverse engineer it except as the law permits.
8. No warranty and limits of liability
Folio is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Scans, filters, text recognition and PDF operations can produce imperfect results; keep your own copies of important documents. To the extent permitted by law, InnoCore Labs Technologies Private Limited is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of documents or data, arising from your use of Folio. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Intellectual property and licences
Folio and its branding belong to InnoCore Labs. Folio includes open-source components and fonts under their own licences; notices are available in the app. You keep all rights in your own documents.
10. Changes and ending
We may update Folio and these terms. The updated terms will be posted at this address with a new effective date. You can stop using Folio at any time by uninstalling it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Kolkata, West Bengal have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
